Report on the 2007 Transforming Churches Conference
by Dr. Dale Salico

The hand of the Lord was with us in a powerful way in Riverside at the Transforming Churches Conference.  By every measure, our prayers were answered immeasurably more than all we could ask or think!  (Ephesians 3:20)  We continue to hear from pastors and church leaders how God spoke to their hearts in very specific ways.  As people left, they felt inspired and encouraged about the challenge to reach younger generations of America with the good news of Christ.  One conferee said it this way,

"Hearing the panel discussion was very important for me since I am going to be starting a young adult ministry at my church.  I know that one of the goals for Transformation Ministries is to equip churches and their leaders to be able to deliver the Gospel.  The conference helped to equip me with knowledge to prepare me for this new ministry that God has called me to begin!"

A pastor from the East Coast shared with me his reaction to his first Transforming Churches Conference when he said,

"Three things were apparent to me at the conference.  First, vision:  Transformation Ministries knows where it is going and is focused on its mission.  Second, energy:  there was no sense of same old same old, but real spirit energizes enthusiasm for mission.  Third, unity:  these people are ethnically diverse, but they have a real sense of love, respect, and genuine caring for the needs of all.  I didn't see any of the 'chip on the shoulder' attitude that is so obvious in other Baptist circles."

A couple from the Midwest said,

"We're going to go back home and recommend that our entire church attend next year's conference.  The quality was such that it would warrant a transcontinental trip by several people to benefit from the conference."

Other feedback included,
"The most meaningful aspect of the conference was the diversity.  We looked like heaven."

"If there was any doubt that Transformation Ministries had a future, after this conference, there is no longer any doubt that it has a strong future ahead."

"I was basically annoyed by what I perceived as the focus this year.  I thought there would be too much emphasis on youth and young adults.  I now understand that you were teaching me a better way to understand and relate to this age group - especially my kids and grandchildren.  It was for me.  Thank you."

"There are no boundaries to His greatness.  Generation after generation stands in awe of Your work; each one tells stories of Your mighty acts."  (Psalm 145:3b-4)  Your church family can choose to pass on the story of Jesus - being challenged to do "Whatever It Takes"- reaching people outside the boundaries of our church buildings, and bring the Gospel message of God's salvation plan to our younger generations.

Transformation Ministries is a mission movement building Kingdom networks.  These robust connections will lead to healthy, growing churches prepared to impact entire communities with the power of the Gospel.  To that end, we invite you to be informed of the leadership development offerings available through Transformation Ministries that will equip, build-up and strengthen your church ministry.
