Celebrate! Building the Ndava Church

The new building of the Ndava Free Baptist Church in Cibitoke, Burundi, was dedicated last month in a service led by Pastor Raymond Giddens, Sr, of Unity Baptist Church of Las Vegas. Unity Baptist is the TM church that spearheaded the efforts to get this church built.

Also on the TM team in Burundi for the dedication of the church were Pastor John and Christeen Hopkins of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church of Lynwood, Sharon Dumas of First Baptist of Honolulu, Margo Malone of Second Baptist of Santa Ana, and Lillie Moyer of International Ministries.

Last year we asked if anyone would join the effort to build a church for $50,000.  Several of our TM churches decided to help build this new church for a congregation led by Pastor Joel Matabo, who is also the director of the Elijah Bible School.

Because the local authorities insisted that a permanent structure be built to replace the former mud building  that had served as their church (pictured above), much work needed to be done.  Many of the women in the congregation carried rocks on their heads for miles.  Others worked to excavate in preparation for the building, and those rocks were used as the foundation of the church.  Through these joint efforts, the people of Ndava now have a wonderful church, built to the glory of God!

A Macedonian Call

Similar to the story of Paul and Silas in Acts 16, when God closed doors to them for ministry in Asia and Bithynia and led them to Macedonia, is the amazing story of how Transformation Ministries got involved in ministry in Burundi, partnering with the Evangelical Free Baptist Churches there.   Read on . . .

Introduction to Burundi

What is the size of Maryland, holds nearly 9,000,000 (9 million) people, is the third poorest country in the world, and has a GDP (Gross Domestic Product - also called "purchasing power") of $300 per person per year in comparison to $47,500 in the U.S.?   Read on . . .

You CAN Make a Difference!

Participating in worship in Burundi is an experience in minimalism for most Americans.  Few of the Evangelical Free Baptist Churches have lights, comfortable seats, or musical instruments.  Most literally worship in mud-hut churches.  The lack of musical instruments is more than offset by the rich harmonies and joyful singing of choirs and worshipers.   Read more for how you can help . . .
