The Evangelical Free Baptist Church of Burundi, or EBLB (French initials), was started in 2004 by a handful of people focused on preaching the Word of God, planting churches, and introducing people to a saving releationship with Jesus Christ. Since then, 5,000 people have been baptized into Jesus Christ, and seventy churches have been started--Praise God!

In cooperation with International Ministries, Transformation Ministries has entered into a covenantal partnership agreement with EBLB. TM will provide training for pastors and leaders, build churches, minister to orphans, and assist with micro-enterprise and micro-finance projects.

Burundi has a population of 8 million in a country the size of Massachusetts. The population is 85% Hutu and 14% Tutsi, with the remaining 1% comprised of several groups. 66% of the people live on less than $1 US per day. A national election in 2005 marked the end of twelve years of civil war, but the country is still both dangerous and poor. Transformation Ministries will seek to encourage the church in Burundi to share the Gospel and lead people to Christ. In addition, we will seek to alleviate Burundi's crushing poverty through innovative and effective methods.

You can be part of this exciting ministry in several ways:

  1. Join the short-term mission team traveling to Burundi May 21-31, 2008. Use the following link or call the Mission Advancement office at (800) 299-3448, extension 878 to request a brochure.
  2. Give generously in order to:
    • Pay tuition for pastors to attend Bible school or seminary ($2500 per pastor needed, we hope to support four per year for a total of $10,000)
    • Place a roof on a church ($800 to $1000). Churches are built, but need roofs.
    • Provide a bicycle for a rural pastor ($100)
    • Support an orphan ($30 per month)
    • Provide a cow for a family to have both milk, and manure (for fertilizer) ($250)
    • Provide a goat for a family to have both milk, and manure ($40 per goat)
  3. Donate a new or used computer (laptops are easier to carry). They are duty free for EBLB.
  4. Donate an extra communion set which your church may not be using any more.
  5. Unrestricted cash gifts will help us fulfill this mission as well.
  6. Pray for the EBLB, its leaders, pastors, and churches.

If you or your church would like to make a financial donation, please make this gift over and above your present giving to your church and/or Transformation Ministries.

Thank you for caring and joining with us in this life-changing ministry in Africa!
